Sharon Gannon and David Life from Woodstock developed the Jivamukti (literally, “liberated soul”) form of yoga in 1984. Since then, the couple has become cult figures in the yoga scene.

Jivamukti – a dynamic form of yoga accompanied by music – has spread worldwide. In Schwabing, psychologist Patrick Broome opened the first Jivamukti studio in Germany in 1996, after finding his spiritual calling in New York, following a yoga lesson with Gannon and Life. He trained with them for a year before opening his Munich studio, to which he has now added two more. The studios are beautiful white spaces of about 180 square meters.
