Six Italians founded the “Scuola di Ashtanga” in an uncluttered, light-flooded studio near the Kolosseum. The founders are oriented toward the philosophy and dynamic form of yoga taught by Sr K. Pattabhi Jois.

Ashtanga is best suited for those who who have physical stamina and look for quick results. Madonna is an enthusiastic Ashtanga fan, and her body is witness to the results of the most challenging Asanas, taught in 90-minute classes. Those who have time on weekends will especially enjoy the weekend Ashtanga workshops held at the country house “Il Casale,” set in a beautiful Tuscan country landscape. In warm weather, classes take place outside, amid almond and olive trees.
