In a pioneering move, the Indian yoga teacher Mádhana opened the first yoga center in Spain in 1994 to teach both the physical and spiritual aspects of this old tradition.

Mádhana’s partners were Gauri and Westly Eckardt, both yoga veterans under the training of Swami Vishnudevananda. A few years ago Mádhana opened a second center in Serrano in the heart of Madrid, just steps away from the wonderful Retiro Park and the Plaza Colon. Yoga lessons in various levels of difficulty are taught in a perfectly maintained yoga studio with dark wooden parquet floors, classical columns and restful wall colors. The instructors, well qualified and mostly English-speaking, are constantly developing and improving the program.
