The World’s Most Original Jewelry Designers

Saskia Diez

Saskia Diez took the long way to get to where she started. The goldsmith said goodbye to the precision and studied industrial design in Munich.

After her degree, she worked in the creative center of the porcelain manufacturer, Rosenthal, and hen moved onto the renowned industrial product designer Konstantin Grcic. In 2006, she returned to jewelry design with her own collection. But her affair with industrial design is still evident in her work. In her first line, “Diamonds”, she used less valuable materials like bronze or glass as if they were precious stones. Through careful forming, which resemble that of diamonds, sapphires or emeralds, white and green glass stones and gold plated bronze were made more desirable. In her “Knotted Chain” collection, she achieves the opposite affect: by using an individual knotting technique for the extendable silver chain, it looks more like a rough nylon rope.
