Steve Jobs reveals his new product highlight in San Francisco, a tablet pc called “iPad”. This combination of a netbook and a smartphone, is the beginning of a new hightech-generation.

With a weight of 1.5 pounds, the little tablet pc can be taken anywhere. The “iPad” has a high-resolution, touch-sensitive 9.7-inch display. The iPad is available with a choice of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of flash storage. In opposition to the MacBook the tablet pc has a virtual keyboard, but it is also possible to combine it with a full-size hardware keyboard.

Apple has opened a new online shop for the iPad, iBooks. It is a great new way to read and buy books. All big publishing houses can offer their books, once you’ve bought a book, it’s displayed on your bookshelf and you just tap it to start reading. Furthermore you can – like you know it from the iPhone – load videos, music and apps. The office package “iwork” is also available, it allows to prepare spreadsheet analysis, texts and presentations.

In the USA the price varies from $499 to $829. All “iPads” have a wireless internet access, some of them have a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) data set. In ca 2 months the first gadgetry will be available – a must have for the new generation.
