Thierry Gasco, wine maker and president of the French association, is a master of his craft.
He mixes grapes from various terroirs - Cramant, Avize and Ay - to make this top cuvee, a sensual homage to the French widow, Louise Pommery, who led the champagne house to fame in the 19th century.
At first the scents are very discreet – fresh bread, dried fruits, almonds – but in the finale, the sensitivity of such tasteful chamber music combines with the power of a whole symphony. The connoisseur relishes every small sip.
