“Our passion is spices and culinary treasures from around the world,” says Oschätzchen in its company portrait, “and where better to present these than in Hamburg, the City of Spices.”
Oschätzchen, a traditional family-run business, has three locations in Hamburg: the original house on Hohen Bleichen, a store in the Alsterhaus and one in the Alstertal Einkaufszentrum (AEZ) shopping center. At Oschätzchen, a world of perfumes and aromas opens up. There are no less than 180 spices and herbs, including 16 varieties of pepper, candied rose petals and cypress cones. The store specializes in dry goods, but there are also oils and vinegars, Italian handmade pasta, English sauces, New Zealand dressings and French pâtés. Best of all are the sweets: grand-cru chocolates, Danish marzipan, handmade bonbons, fruit pâtés and butter truffles.
