We will have to wait until November 14th of next year for the announcement of Germany’s Michelin Leader of 2009. However in the meantime we can already congratulate one man on a job well done; Sven Elverfeld, the Chef de Cuisine at the Aqua Restaurant in Wolfsburg’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel. With his highly creative dishes, Elverfeld has achieved the much-coveted highest honour of a third Michelin Star: “It feels like I’ve just won a million on the lottery!” says Elverfeld of his success. He has already been voted at 2007’s Cook of the Year by Germany’s Der Feinschmecker (The Gourmet) magazine and is continuing well on his way to the highest echelons of gourmet cooking. The Aqua Restaurant in Wolfsburg’s Ritz-Carlton is a small oasis and the perfect location to stop off and unwind. One can choose between a sumptuous 4, 5, or 7-course meal (€105-140) and there is a wide selection of fine wines available to complement each and every dish (prices start at around €11 per glass). Even from the a lá Carte menu Elverfeld offers some outstanding dishes such as codfish with mixed pickles, roast potatoes and bacon (€48) or crayfish with mango, vinegar carrots and sorrel (€33).
