No other city in the world can rival Vienna in terms of the sheer number of historically significant coffee houses. An afternoon or evening with a traditional Viennese ‘Melange’ (milky coffee) and a sumptuous butter pastry is one of the best ways to enjoy the elegance and timeless luxury of a forgotten world. A trip to Vienna without visiting one of the city’s legion coffee houses would be like Christmas without presents or Easter without eggs; simply unthinkable. However not every café in the city has that extra wow factor which keeps locals, gourmets, celebrities and businessmen coming back time and time again. Our writer Sven Beckmann recently traveled to Vienna and has compiled a list of the ten best coffee houses in the capital allowing you to choose from establishments which are not only beautiful but also steeped in tradition.
