Henssler Henssler, located directly on Hamburg's harbor, is owned by a father and son duo. Their claim that "Hamburg is a cross between California and Japan" is no fisherman's tale.
Henssler Henssler resides in a former goods depot ensemble at the city's harbor and is generally packed to the rafters. Steffen Henssler's fame as a TV chef, while hardly damaging, is not the deciding factor in the restaurant's success. The younger Henssler attended the sushi academy in Los Angeles where he was trained in the art of perfect preparation and presentation of Japanese delicacies and has been awarded a few trophies for his efforts. His culinary skills have also won favor with hanseatic tastes. The kitchen is unpretentious, fresh and sophisticated. Classic Japanese recipes are with innovative, international culinary expertise. Guests can watch the whirl and twirl of the open kitchen from the bar stools along the counter, or simply take a seat in the unadorned ambiance of the restaurant. Even though Steffen Henssler personally prefers fish, there are also many meat dishes on the menu, for example American beef fillet or entrecote of ox.
