Restaurant Steirereck, Vienna

Restaurant Steirereck is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Vienna, namely in the middle of the Viennese City Park with stunning views of St. Stephen’s Cathedral. This fantastic restaurant, which is rightly well known far beyond the borders of the country, serves traditional Austrian dishes of the highest order. But it’s much more than just a luxury restaurant: their own dairy farm boasts 150 different kinds of cheese, there’s a selection of delicious pastries, fresh strudel and a variety of traditional Viennese dishes. Evenings here are something very special though. Once can choose between a 5 or 6-course menu and enjoy delicacies such as Gillardeau oysters ‘au gratin’ with salad, spaghetti squash and apple followed by braised duck with rutabaga, artichoke and physalis. Two to three further courses follow before the meal is rounded off with dessert along the lines of warm Trinitario chocolate with pineapple Pericon sorbet and coconut macaroons. Pure luxury!
