The Chateau Ausone is the only vineyard, apart from the Chateau Cheval Blanc, in the famed Appelation Saint Emilion region that earned the distinction Premier Grand Cru Classé A. Another reason for its high desirability is the size of the vineyard. At only a mere 7.3 hectares, the amounts produced of this long-living and complex red wine are extremely small, raising the demand for an Ausone into the realms of absurdity.
