She says so herself – even though she is the editor of French Vogue, she has a little piece of punk rocker inside her and always will.

If you compare her to her colleagues in England, Europe or the USA there is no doubt that the editor in chief of French Vogue is the “enfant terrible” of the lot.
She doesn’t participate hugely in the circus that is the fashion industry and apparently it only takes her ten minutes to get ready in the mornings. Additionally she always wears the same thing – a skirt, a black coat and some sort of fabulous accessory to give her look a personal edge. And the fact that for years she has left the house without a handbag makes her even more of an outsider on the fashion scene.
But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know exactly what she’s talking about. Roitfeld has been working as a fashion stylist since the 80s and in 1995 she sent models onto the runway for Gucci, wearing snake leather, darkened eyes and tousled hair. It caused a sensation and set a sexy, new standard for the Italian fashion house.
These days when the distinctively attired Frenchwoman attends a fashion show, she is often just as much of an attraction for photographers as the actual collection is.
