Since the cult movie Easy Rider the motorbike has been a symbol of freedom and masculinity. Although back then it’d be no surprise to see Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson or Jimmy Dean astride a powerful superbike, these days you’d be just as likely to see Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu or Uma Thurman in the saddle proving that these machines have equal appeal to both sexes. 2009 sees BMW release a new souped-up machine, the R 1200 RT which combines a high power output with lightweight construction. The 2-cylinder four stroke engine pushed out 110 HP enabling top speeds of around 200km/h. Also featured as standard are a 6-speed gearbox, navigation system, radio and CD player and under seat heating. An eye-catching highlight is the exclusive to KaDeWe special edition model which comes with a jet black finish and is encrusted with CRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski stones. Expect to pay around €36,999.
