Alber Elbaz is the name of the man who blew the cobwebs out of French fashion house Lanvin, rethought the brand and in his position as Creative Director has been bringing a little splash of Paris glamour to the world since 2001. He is responsible for ensuring that Hollywood stars of the caliber of Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman are regular customers of the label. One of Elbaz’s favourite materials is grosgrain, a finely woven silk fabric with fine horizontal ribs. Elbaz often uses grosgrain to highlight dresses and bags as well as using it to make necklaces adorned with pearls. “I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of Lanvin’s beautiful pear and grosgrain necklaces,” says Massenet, “They will add the finishing touch to so many of my outfits.”
