The Tegernsee brewery is located approximately 50km south of Munich on the banks of one of Germany’s cleanest lakes. For over 1000 years light and dark beers have been brewed here using a selection of the finest hops, malt and perhaps most importantly, crystal-clear mountain water. The Tegernsee Special brew has a somewhat spicy bite and it’s for this reason that it’s been a particular favourite of Willy Bogner for some years now. A jar or two is best enjoyed in the brewery’s guesthouse where a variety of Bavarian delicacies are also served – perhaps the best accompaniment to the Tegernsee Special is a traditional Schweinshax’n: a huge knuckle of pork!
