From Mansions to Manors – the luxury Houses of Germany

Bückeburg Castle, Lower Saxony

The Schaumburg-Lippe family has owned this renaissance castle, originally erected in the 1300’s, for over a century.

From the castle building to the mausoleum, the Bückeburg Castle offers an ensemble of sights that transport visitors to a time of the past. While the castle exterior looks cold and harsh, an enchanting fairytale atmosphere pervades the interior. The banquet hall is given a uniquely playful charm thanks to coral-red marble accents and intricate rococo elements such as columns and intricate frets. The castle’s “Golden Hall” fulfills all expectations, as nearly every inch of the room is covered in a glow of gold.

With the Schaumburger forest nearby, Bückeburg Castle has its own hunting grounds rife with wild foxes, deer, and other game. The grounds also feature the Academy of Baroque Riding, where horseback-riders can take part in lessons, or observe a horse-show featuring professional Baroque-style horseback riders.
