Considered one of the Rhine River’s most important cultural sights, the Dyck Castle has been in the possession of the Salm-Reiffenscheidt-Dyck family since 1094.
The high point of any visit to this area is the field and water-surrounded Dyck Castle. On the upper floor the ancient architecture is juxtaposed by an exhibition of modern art, making for an exciting mix of old and new. The various rooms in the south wing of the castle have a range of uses including wedding ceremonies which can be scheduled for the castle’s beautiful terrace for the first Saturday of every month. The enormous garden complimenting the terrace has been a work in progress since the 19th century, when Fürsten Joseph began building one of the largest plant collections in Europe, and includes everything from roses to fruit trees to bamboo.
The Dyck Castle’s breath-taking beauty is not limited to the daytime, as it holds a luminary event September in which the castle is lit up by a row of colored lights, bringing a fantasy-like atmosphere to the historical park. Visitors are also sure to be enchanted by the castle’s outdoor concerts, which are held regularly throughout the year.
