Satzvey Manor, North Rhine – Westphalia

Known throughout the world for its history and romance, this water-enveloped manor of the North Rhine in Westphalia has been owned by the Grafen Beissel of Gymnich family for over 300 years.

The first documented evidence of Satzvey Manor’s existence is from 1396 however it is believed that the structure’s walls are even older than this. The many-towered manor was redeveloped by Dietrich Graf Volff of Metternich in 1880, and rebuilt in the late-romantic style. Now, over one hundred years later Metternich’s great-grandchild Franz Josef Graf Beissel of Gymnich resides in this luxurious walled residence with his wife, Jeannette Gräfin Beissel of Gymnich.

The manor might be a personal home, but the estate’s gates are occasionally opened to visitors. Diverse artwork is displayed every season, transforming the manor into a scenic art lover’s paradise. Guests can also be entertained by historic jousting tournaments which are also held as an addition to these festivities.
