Hans Graf of Schlitz commissioned Friedrich Adam Leiblin to build Schlitz Manor – the largest classical castle in West Pomerania – from 1806 to 1823.
The interior of Schtliz Manor is especially eye-catching, with its central two-story high neogothic knight’s hall complete with stucco ceiling and classical windows dating from 1820. Even the kitchen offers impressive sights, as two original tile-stoves from Karl Friedrich Schinkel offer a peek into the past. This unique manor now serves as a hotel – and one with an impressive guest list: the political guests of the 2007 G8 Summit in Heiligendamm stayed here, among others.
As a hotel, the old Schlitz Manor has something for everybody. Those who enjoy hunting will enjoy the Manor’s park – one of the oldest horseback-hunting settings – while those who want a little less activity can relax in the hotel’s luxurious spa. The hotel also offers a romantic setting for marriage ceremonies, ideal for those who are looking for a spot to have the perfect fairytale wedding.
