In the R8, Audi have finally delivered a real sports car that has the potential to tap into the same market which for years has been cornered by Porsche’s 911 model. With a sleek, low-slung chassis the R8 looks and performs like a scaled-down version of a Le Mans winner and also from a technical point of view it’s a victor – the R8 boasts all-wheel drive, precise traction and braking, a powerful 420HP engine and a 6-speed gearbox. The R8 is also fitted with comfortable seats and good insulation and with top speeds of around 301 km/h it’s a perfect vehicle for long haul drives. The one drawback would be its rather high fuel consumption. Nevertheless, it’s something of a triumph for Audi and can be yours for around €105,000.
