The owner of the Rising Sun is a total sports freak- of course he wouldn't set sail without a fitness centre and a basketball court on board.
The out-going marketing guru Larry Ellison happily supports American Football teams and international sailing with the millions made from his Oracle software but he has also invested in his own sporty mega-yacht. The Rising Sun was launched in 2004, by the Bremen-based ship builders Luerssen. She's 136m long and can get up to a speed of 28 knots. The 200million dollar show-piece has 82 rooms over five decks and a living area of approximately 8,000 m2. Alongside a fitness centre, the passengers who want to can enjoy a sauna, a cinema with a giant plasma screen and an exclusive wine cellar. If you prefer the fresh sea air, you can play basketball on the deck. But watch out: when the helicopter is landing, the basketball team better get out of the way!
