‘Big is beautiful’ is a maxim that certainly applies to British car manufacturer Bentley and their Continental GT model is definitely big! At a majestic 4.8m in length every inch of this machine oozes class and style – two characteristics which one would expect from this name. The Continental GT first appeared on the market in 2003 replacing the previous Continental R and T and is actually based on the Volkswagen Group D1 platform as opposed to the Rolls Royce platform used on the previous models. With the GT you can also be assured of its power credentials as much as you can its style factor; beneath the hood is a 6.0l, twin-turbocharged W12 engine which produces 560HP and ensure top speeds of around 319km/h. Indeed, the Bentley’s power capabilities were put to the test early last year when a Continental GT broke the world speed record on ice; Juha Kankkunen took a GT up to 331km/h on the frozen Baltic Sea near Finland. Proof if any were needed of the car’s performance under adverse conditions. Regardless of where you choose to drive yours, the Continental GT goes for around €180,000.
