Snowboarders want two things: To climb high and enjoy the rush of the descent - Zermatt offers both. According to ex-professional and outspoken bestselling author Herbert Ypma, the resort is the "highest skiable region outside of the Himalayas".

Recent statistics proved that even Zermatt's summer ski-runs are longer than the winter ones in some of North America's biggest and best known resorts. Those who have their doubts should try out Zermatt's slopes in June, when Skiing on the glacier is still possible between the altitudes of 4000 meters and 2000 meters. In the Winter, ski a further few kilometers. In total this means nothing less than three kilometers of unadulterated skiing pleasure amidst an authentic Alpine backdrop. A diverse resort, offering the possibility of snow boarding to neighboring Italy, almost impossible to reach on four wheels. So many plus points, however, don't go unnoticed, so don't expect to be the only one queuing on the platform for the cable car to the Matterhorn observation point. Waiting, the say, makes the result all the sweeter.
