Banyan Tree Phuket, Thailand

The extremely eco-conscious hotel group, Banyan Tree Group, set this particular resort upon the site of a former pewter mine on Phuket Island.
Today the place is filled with blossoms and green, there is no trace of the historical sins once practiced here. The area was classified as “destroyed for several generations” required a huge investment to restore it to its former state. Happily today it is a Thai Garden of Eden, complete with coconut palms and evergreen shrubs. Meanwhile in the rushes and on the nearby water ways, wild ducks and herons have once again make themselves a home.
