Choupana Hills Resort, Portugal

The Choupana Hills Resort, on the island of Madeira, proudly boasts that all of the wood used in its construction was sourced from organic plantations, that they have their own purification plant and that the water at the resort comes from their very own spring.
For a mere 30 million Euro the architects Michel de Camaret and Didier Lefort have managed to conjure up 34 houses next to the laurel tree forest that sits above Madeira’s capital city of Funchal. A small canal, a levada, which is typical of the waterways that cross the island, meanders peacefully through the property.
The resort also offers botanical treks and bird watching tours.
