Hotel Amour, Paris

Loved for its people watching culture during fashion week and admired for its discretion during the calm of the evening. The Amour was once an hourly rate hotel in the city's Quatier Pigalle, the red light district, Even today the hotel's 20 rooms can be rented for half a day, an option that has become popular with the employees at the neighboring banks and insurance offices. The rooms have been fitted out by artists like Sophie Calle and designers such as Marc Newson and no one room is identical to another. The minuscule inner courtyard with its fountain is a small city oasis. One downside is that the area is loud and the service staff are more concentrated on being "discovered" rather than on helping guests.
