It was here where Oscar Wilde famously made the quote, "I'm dying beyond my means" and it was also in L'Hôtel, at that time questionable gin palace, where the writer met his maker. The owners laid a wreath on Wilde's grave with the heartfelt dedication "for our tenant". In the meantime, however, luxury has made its way to the hotel. A huge silver ram's head is the sole marker of the hotel's entrance. Having negotiated the rather narrow entrée guests are greeted with a white dome and to the right an elevator leading to the rooms. Number 16 is a reconstruction of the aforementioned writer's room, number 36 is fitted with glorious art déco furniture from the house of the actress, singer and dancer, Mistinguett. All this character helps distract from small bathroom sizes. Keep in mind another one of the Dandy's aphorisms, "I can resist everything but the temptation" and pay a lttle extra to spend a night in Oscar Wilde's deathbed.
