Fashion designer Christian Lacroix's first venture into interior design was at this small Parisian hotel: the tiny Hôtel du Petit Moulin in Paris is a journey from pop art to traditional Gallic flair throughout its 17 highly individually appointed rooms. The designer's hallmarks are boldly patterned fabrics in gaudy colors, ethnically inspired decoration and replicas of historical gravures. Added to this there are diverse borrowings from French history such as over-sized copper plating or an authentic bistro bar from zinc. The reception is located in a former bakery, the oldest in Paris, where nobles and diplomats once had their bread bought. This hotel is a true mix of kitsch and class, a true house for individuals.
