In her film-roles she embodied the lovable blonde - the genuine, easygoing, and erotic woman of the 1960’s. Now, singer and actress Doris Day can add hotelier to her resume as owner of the comfortable “Cypress Inn” in Carmel, California.
The interior decoration of Ms. Day’s bed and breakfast is anything but minimalist. The 44-room house is decorated with extravagant carpets, cushy sofas, a plethora of pillows, wooden furniture, and plenty of open fireplaces. This lush interior is complimented by the building’s Mediterranean façade and the vibrant courtyard – lemon trees, Fuschias, and Bougainvillea can be found here, among others. Terry’s Lounge (named after her late son Terry Melcher), creates a cozy atmosphere, serving fresh-brewed tea from 1 to 4 pm daily. Guests can enjoy fresh-baked scones served either in front of a warm fire or, on sunny days, on the courtyard’s terrace. A special touch that keeps many cat and dog lovers coming back to stay at “Doris’s” is the hotel’s pet-friendly policy: all four-legged friends are welcome.
