A small town of approximately 4,081 residents, Carmel-by-the-Sea is located on the California coast, about 109 km south of San Francisco. This beautiful area has been home to many authors and artists who drew inspiration from the natural beauty of America’s west coast.
Authors Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck and Jack London are just a few famous names who have stayed in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Another big name in the neighborhood is the owner of the Mission Ranch Resort – none other than Clint Eastwood. The star bought the Ranch in 1986 (the same year he was voted mayor of the town) in order to save it from real estate speculators who were looking to replace the picturesque ranch with condominiums. However Eastwood was determined to salvage the original ranch; he had all the buildings renovated and restored the property to its original charm.
Today the resort has thirty individually furnished rooms, many with an ocean-view, fireplace, and jacuzzi. The restaurant offers a unique Italian-influenced west-coast cuisine as well as an amazing view of the coast. Reservations are only accepted in the week of the AT&T-Championship, one golf tournament of the PGA Tour which takes place in the surrounding areas.
