Only 20 minutes by car west of Strasbourg lies this culinary treasure. Since its opening in 1880, the Musculus restaurant has remained a family concern with recipes handed down from generation to generation. The proof, as they say, is in the tasting! Perhaps Georg Picard feels at home here because he himself belongs to a family business with a long tradition. André and Suzanne Musculus are to be found in the kitchen, son Claude takes care of the wine cellar while daughter Martine serves the guests. The menu boasts such delicacies as Foie gras, duck à l’orange, game dishes and of course, home-made cakes. And fear not: if you’ve eaten so well here that your belly won’t allow to move more than a few steps, you can always sleep over; on the first floor the Musculus restaurant also offers six cosy guestrooms.
