Turandot, Moskau

Gold and marble everywhere, gentle cembalo and harp music under the dome: when some enter this culinary Rococo temple for the first time, it is no wonder they’re left breathless. Something you could only find in Moscow. Andrej Dellos invested 50 million Dollars into this unprecedented restaurant, a chinoiserie where, using examples from the 18th century, 450 handpicked craftsmen and artists worked for six years. “If Marie Antoinette were still alive, this would be her restaurant” wrote the New York Times. With 26,500 m², up to 600 guests can celebrate in this complex stretched over three palaces. Alan Yu, coming from Hong Kong via Kakkasan in London, offers Asian fusion cuisine, enticing with Langostinen dumplings, marinated squid or tea-smoked pork. Those who knew the Moscow of 10 years ago will think they’ve landed on a different planet.
