The World's Best Super Yachts

Al Mirqab from Peters Schiffbau

We have arrived now at position No. 7 on the list of the world’s best yachts and would like to introduce you to the mighty, 133m-long Al Mirqab yacht. This luxury vessel was constructed by Peters Schiffbau in collaboration with Kusch Yachts and departed from the Wewelsfleth shipyards in Schleswig-Holstein to its supposed new docking point at Palma de Mallorca where its new owner, the Emir of Katar, was no doubt delighted to receive it. Within the luxury yacht trade, discretion is of the utmost importance which would explain why it is so often the case that very little technical information is available about such crafts. One thing we can be certain of in the case of the Al Mirqab is that design duties were taken on by Tim Heywood while Andrew Winch was brought in to oversee construction. The pair were responsible for planning and installing five electro-diesel motors each of which has a power output of 2,8000kw. To put that capacity into context, a brand new Porsche 911 Turbo has a power output of only 353kw. Any other questions?
