The most influential taste - and style-makers

Gwen Stefani, singer and fashion designer

“Don’t speak” was the name of the song and video with which Gwen Stefani’s band, No Doubt, first came to popular attention. Despite the title, Stefani’s style spoke volumes. Since then her unique look has been copied all over the world.

Back then the fact that this singer, the one with the platinum blonde hair, bright red lipstick and polka dot dresses, had put her own look together was highly unusual. Usually an artist would have engaged the services of a stylist who would then help them find the best looks for any occasion. But Stefani had always had an eye for her own outfits and didn’t want to be influenced by anyone else.
As her band, No Doubt, became more and more successful Stefani continued to turn up in her own innovative, often home made outfits.
Then after the singer went solo, she also launched her own fashion label L.A.M.B. (short for Love, Angel, Music, Baby). And it turns out one of the best known fans of Stefani’s label is Madonna herself. Perhaps this is a sign that the Queen of Pop is passing on her style-setting-scepter to the platinum Princess of Pop!
